Whatsapp has rolled out a much-awaited new feature i.e. Whatsapp group video calling, now you can make a group call with up to four people total – anytime and anywhere. Just start a one-on-one voice or video call and tap the new “add participant” button in the top right corner to add more contacts to the call.
The voice and video calls made on WhatsApp are end-to-end encrypted, says WhatsApp, which means that whatever is being shared cannot be sneaked into, even by the company. Whatsapp group calling feature is currently rolling out on the iPhone and Android versions of the app. The chatting feature on Whatsapp is also end-to-end encrypted. WhatsApp group voice and video calling feature is similar to Skype that has supported the same functionality for quite a while.
How to do group video call on Whatsapp in Android and IOS?
- Make sure you have the latest iOS or Android version of WhatsApp and Updated.
- Open the app and start a one-on-one video call with a contact.
- If you want to add more people in, simply click the ‘add participant’ button at the top right of your screen.
- Keep adding until you hit the four people video chat limit.
Whatsapp is also testing a feature limit forward messages to only five people at a time. Whatsapp has introduced this feature to battle fake news. Formerly, Whatsapp was heavily criticised for spreading violence and fake news.
While reducing WhatsApp user’s right WhatsApp had said that, this feature will be applicable for all user around the world. Instant Messaging app stated in a blog post reading, “In India – where people forward more messages, photos, and videos than any other country in the world – we’ll also test a lower limit of 5 chats at once and we’ll remove the quick forward button next to media messages.”
Whatsapp currently has 2 billion minutes on calls per day. It would be exciting to see the Whatsapp group calling feature which is rolled out today.
