During the Jat reservation movement in Haryana’s Muthal city, many atrocities against women and seven gangrapes were done and now the SIT, which is investigating these allegations, has not found any of the victims of this case. The SIT said this during the hearing of the case in Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday. Media reports claimed that during the Jat reservation movement, there were incidents of gangrape with women, on which the High Court took automatic cognizance.
Justice SS Saron and Justice Avnish Jhingan are hearing the case. As soon as the hearing started in the court, SIT chief and IG Police Mamta Singh filed an investigation report in the closed envelope in the court
A copy of this report was given to Senior Advocate Anupam Gupta. And the High Court has appointed him Amicus Curie in the case. After watching the report, Gupta told the court, “Investigations have been done for one and a half years and after that there is no new input in the SIT report, they are now only handling the hand
He said that it has been clearly stated in the report that one victim has not been found in the SIT case and this report should be considered as the last (in the case of finding victims) on the matter from him. Demanding the transfer of the Murthal gangrape case to CBI, Gupta said, “CBI will be allowed to investigate this matter.” If the country’s top investigative agency will investigate the matter and I do not get anything, I will be satisfied.
After this the bench fixed the next hearing for the hearing on 17th August. Justice Sarson ordered that the report of SIT be given to Advocate Gupta so that he could prepare his arguments in the matter. The bench, however, told them not to share this report with anyone.
Earlier, in December 2016, the High Court had given approval to the Haryana Government to prosecute the reporter of the online portal for writing a false report of the alleged rap of a minor. The reporter presented a voice recording and told the statement of the mother of the alleged Muthal Rape victim.
