Maruti to launch 4 new cars in next 18 months; 800 crores spent on new Swift.
Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s largest carmaker, will launch four new swift cars in the next 12 to 18 months. The company has taken this decision to maintain its double digit sales growth of five years.
The company has expressed hope that it will close with the current fiscal year double digit sales growth. During April-December 2017, Maruti’s growth in the domestic market increased by 15.5 percent to 12,26,418 units. In the same period a year ago, the company sold 10,61,873 cars.
Maruti Suzuki will launch a new version of its popular hatchback swift in the auto expo running from 9-14 February. According to sources, apart from the new spiff, the company’s plan is to introduce a completely new version of its mid-size sedan siege and multi-pumps vehicle ARTIGA. Vegan-R is also preparing to bring a new version but it has not yet set a deadline.
However, senior executive director (marketing and sales) of Maruti Suzuki India RS Kalsi refused to make any comment on the company’s launch program for the next financial year. When asked about the new product coming in the market, Kalsi said that this is a continuous process and we can not tell when we will bring it.
Kalsi said: “that the company has maintained its growth momentum over the past few years. Due to two major policy decisions like notebank and GST”, there was a big challenge in the sales, especially the rural market. Even after this, the company has maintained its growth. He told that the industry’s growth is 8.13% and Maruti is confident that he will be ahead of the industry’s growth once again. Kalsi expressed hope that the growth of the industry in 2018-19 will also be maintained at this pace.
