Kanchipuram Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati passed away on Wednesday. He was 82 years old. They had been sick for a long time. In the last month too, he was relieved of breathing, after which he was admitted to Ramchandra Hospital in Chennai last month.
It is being told that his blood sugar went down considerably. He was discharged from the hospital next day and he was resting. Kanchi Shankaracharya came to Delhi in November 2017 At that time his health was not well. Kanchi Kamkoti was 69th monastic head of the bench. Chandrashekendra Saraswati Swamigal declared him his successor on March 22, 1954.

In the former Jayalalitha government, he was also arrested in connection with the murder of Shankar Raman, manager of Vardhaj Perumal temple in Kanchipuram. However, he was acquitted.
