According to the statement issued by Indigo, surcharge has been made mandatory due to having a cheap airline. If the oil prices get faster then the surcharges can be increased again, but with the improvement in the price of oil it will be removed.
Sanjay Kumar, Chief Commercial Officer of the company said, in the last decade, the cost of air tickets in India has been almost 50 percent cheaper. In this way, we believe that these small increments of fuel surcharge will not cause any negative impact on our ticket demand.
200 cents surcharge will be charged up to 1000 km on flight ticket, 400 rupees will be charged on tickets of more than 1000 km.

The cost of diesel in Kolkata has been cut by 1 paise. Its price has been reduced by Rs 71.84 per liter, Mumbai by 1 paise to Rs 73.77 per liter and Chennai by 1 paise to Rs 73.16 per liter.
