GURUGRAM: There was hard time in dressing room for the contestants who were giving final touches to their attires before ramp walk. Rohit, Manipur, contestant had been dressed in a traditional attire, worn on special occasions such as weddings. She was one of the 16 contestants of the first TRANSQUEEN PEAGENT to be organized in India, which was held on Sunday evening at Hotel Bristol in Gurugram.
Organizer Reena Rai said “This ideas is came from my heart of hosting a pageant for transwomen.” “I had gone HIJRA HUBBA, an event where I met a number of trans people, and I came back and told my husband about it and rushed to the stage to felicitate the jury, who had been invited to judge the contestants.
The 16 contestants had been selected after auditioning in different cities across the country. The contestants from Chennai to Rishikesh, Manipur to Mumbai, and came from a variety of background. While one is a lawyer, another a former sex worker who wanted to make her career in modeling.
A week before the finale on Sunday when the models were put through grooming and training at the final stages. RJ Simran, one of the jury members said that“ I had undertaken vocal training for the contestants”. Similar training was carried out for all to the final day.

26 years old transwoman Natasha from Kolkata was declared Miss Transqueen India 2017. Nitasha is currently pursuing masters in Business Management in Kolkata. 23 year-old LoiLoi from Manipur was the 1st Runners Up and 24 year-old Ragasya from Chennai was crowned 2nd runners up.
Winner Nitasha will represent their community in Thailand in the Miss International Queen and the first runner-up will compete in the Miss Transsexual Australia.
