Rajasthan Royals vs Chennai Super Kings.
Hanging from a thread with Rajasthan Royals’ IPL 2018 season, leading the mighty Chennai Super Kings in the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Friday night, led by Ajinkya Rahane. After losing three consecutive matches, Rajasthan have managed to retain their slim hopes of qualifying for the playoffs of the district, with a 15-run victory over Kings XI Punjab.
On the other hand, CSKs are sitting pretty in second place with 14 points from 10 games in IPL points table, and in the remaining four games, the win should be enough to seal their place in the playoffs.
IPL Points Table
|Chennai Super Kings||10||7||3||0||0||14||+0.421|
|Kings XI Punjab||10||6||4||0||0||10||+0.097|
|Kolkata Knight Riders||11||5||6||0||0||10||-0.359|
But it will be easier said than done for CSK, despite Rajasthan’s poor IPL 2018 form. The Royals have just won four matches this season in 10 matches and three of those wins have come at their home ground of Sawai Mansingh Stadium. This match will also be a chance for Rajasthan to avenge a 64-run humiliation at the hands of CSK at Pune in their previous encounter.
The average performance by captain Rahane and Sanju Samson and the below-the-show Star English all-rounder Ben Stokes and Rahul Tripathi have hurt the Royals and the hosts need to unite their batting unit against the terrible CSK. England wicketkeeper Jos Butler, in his last match, chased down 82 runs off 58 balls in the rescue of the hosts, the hosts came to make 158 runs in eight wickets, their bowlers defended Krishnappa Gowtham, Kiwi spinner Ish Sodhi and Jofra Archer.
His hitters are in top form but throwing still remains a concern for CSK, despite a fine interpretation against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their final game. The CSK bowlers finally came to the game on May 5, restricting RCB to 127 for nine, a goal of which they went in search with six terrains in hand. Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja (3/18) and veteran Harbhajan Singh (2/22) was the chief destroyer for CSK against RCB. However, the passing trio of Lungi Ngidi, David Willey and Shardul Thakur have to shoulder more sincere responsibility in the absence of Deepak wounded Chahar.
However, there are firefighters in Chennai and most of the teams, who make races with Ambati Rayudu, the Australian Shane Watson, the Antilleans Dwayne Bravo, Captain Dhoni and Suresh Raina, help. Rayudu, in particular, has batted in the number two initial and number four, and is currently number three in the career scorers with 423 runs of 10 game.
Skipper Dhoni, on his part, has reminded his critics that he is not past his prime with his trademark towering sixes. Dhoni is seventh on the run-getters list with 360 runs that include three half-centuries with 79 not out being the highest.
