Akash Chopra congratulates Dean Jones : Dean Jones is now Afghanistan’s new Cricket Coach
Former Australian batsman and commentator Dean Jones have made head coach of Afghanistan cricket team on the tour of Hong Kong.
Jones will be the coach of the Afghanistan team for the four-day Intercontinental Cup match to be held from October 20-23, and officials of the Afghan Cricket Board have told that they should be permanently linked to the team. Last month during the T-20 tournament, Jones went Kabul for cricket commentary.
In a statement, the board said that “Afghanistan Cricket Board has appointed former Australian cricketer and commentator Dean Jones as chief coach for a four-day intercontinental match in Hong Kong. Both sides will consider a long partnership after the match”. Jones has written in the Twitter message that he is happy to lead the Afghanistan cricket team in Hong Kong.
Afghanistan has long been struggling to find its coaching needs, in which they have changed five coaches in the last five years. Rajput, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Rashid Latif, and Kabir Khan have all worked as Australian coach in the past.
